Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Milan

The Short Version

I go by Giulia Romano and live in Milan, and over the past several years I have chronicled my firsthand experiences at fitness clubs throughout Italy.

This site exists because I grew tired of selecting gyms based on advertisements and broad suggestions, only to discover the reality didn’t match expectations. I sought concrete, candid details about what these places were truly like, and since I couldn’t find them, I chose to build them myself.

Over a dozen Gyms Visited
Three Years Active
More than 200 Classes Attended

How This Started

My workout routine began at a modest club near Via del Fitness, Centro in Milan. It wasn't flawless, but it was approachable, budget-friendly, and helped me keep a steady habit.

When that place shut down, I saw how rapidly the fitness landscape in Italy was changing. New clubs emerged, new ideas appeared, and marketing grew louder than actual member experience.

I began testing different gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Those notes gradually formed this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.

My Approach to Reviews

Each review here stems from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I zero in on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.

When I review a fitness center, I typically:

  • Spend sufficient time to grasp routines, peak times, and overall patterns
  • Visit on multiple days and at various times
  • Experiment with several training formats and coaches
  • Use the facilities regularly to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Speak with other members about what remains consistent and what doesn't
  • Take notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when major changes occur—renovations, changes in management, price adjustments, or new facilities. Every article displays its last update date so you can gauge how current the information is.

What I Look For

My priorities may differ from yours, so these are the aspects I consider most important when assessing a gym:

Comfort and Privacy: Is the space thoughtfully designed for members, with clear boundaries and a relaxed vibe?

Equipment Quality: Are the machines well-maintained? Is there adequate variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd Management: Can you train during your preferred times without constant waiting?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness reflects how seriously management takes the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Transparent pricing, clear guidelines, and no unexpected charges.

Beyond the Gym

Outside of training and writing, I live and work in Milan. This project is here to make fitness choices easier and more transparent for people looking for the right environment.
